Are you an experienced Fundraiser looking for a new challenge?

If so we’d love to hear from you. St. Clare’s Hospice has an excellent reputation for providing palliative care for patients suffering from a life limiting illness in the South Tyneside area with a range of services from In-Patient care in our 8-bed unit to Out-Patient services such as physiotherapy, counselling and complementary therapies. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fundraiser to join our Fundraising & Communications team. The post holder will contribute to team targets by developing relationships with local businesses; identifying and maximising opportunities to raise income for the charity. Using a proactive approach to establish support from a variety of research and methods; excellent communication, relationship building and organisational skills are essential.

The post holder will be a highly motivated individual who will be a key part of our Fundraising & Communications team with a proven track record in fundraising and delivering results against KPI’s. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing significant income through sponsored events and campaigns as well as supporting local businesses with their own activities.   

The post holder will aim to raise the profile of the Hospice in the local community; effectively communicating St. Clare’s key Service and Fundraising messages to supporters, using a variety of relevant marketing channels including face-to-face, telephone, mailings, text message, print newsletter, e-newsletter, website and social media. 

You will be a confident communicator and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. You will be well organised and have knowledge and understanding of general office systems and procedures, including Microsoft Office. Applicants need to be able to work flexibly as the role will require occasional evening and weekend work. A valid UK driver’s license is required for this position with access to own vehicle for business use.

The post is subject to enhanced DBS Disclosure

Description

St. Clare’s has an excellent reputation for providing specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses and has an ambitious strategy for developing the range and scale of the services we provide to the population of South Tyneside.  The Hospice In-Patient unit has 8 beds which includes a dedicated respite bed. The Day Care Unit has a facility to cater for up to 20 patients per day x5 days per a week. 

We have positions available on our Staff Nurse flexi bank. Hospice/palliative/oncology care experience would be preferred, however not essential.  You will need to have post registration experience, qualified to Diploma level, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a genuine interest in palliative care and the future developments of the Hospice. The successful candidates will be required to work day and night duties as well as Day Care, when required.

The posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Volunteer Receptionist

Description

We currently have some vacancies for experienced volunteer receptionists to join our very friendly team.

The purpose of the role is to provide a polite friendly and efficient reception service to all visitors and staff of St Clare’s Hospice.

Hours

Monday – Friday 5.00pm – 8.00pm

Saturday & Sunday 9.30am – 12.30pm, 1.30pm – 5.00pm, 5.00pm – 8.00pm

Main Tasks  

  • Dealing with patients, visitors and staff either by telephone or in person in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner.
  • To pass on any messages to the relevant person in an efficient and professional manner. 
  • To maintain the Hospice shop and operate the till. 
  • To ensure that all visitors and staff sign in and out at reception
  • Accept responsibility for locking the confectionery, card, drinks and key cupboard at the end of the shift.  Also to ensure that the main switchboard telephone is transferred to the nurse’s station, till is locked and front doors are locked if no one is taking over your shift and return master keys to the nurses’ station.
  • Handling monetary donations and writing appropriate receipt.

Personal Qualities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Friendly and Polite.
  • Able to work independently.  

Essential Training Requirements

  • Switchboard.
  • Till Operation.
  • General Reception Duties.

We will provide full training to the appointed candidates.
