The loss of someone you love is undoubtedly the most difficult time in anyone’s life. Donating in memory of a loved one is a very special way to remember someone close to you. Not only will you be helping us to continue caring for local people, it will help you look towards the future and do something positive in their honour.

In Lieu of Flowers

Many families choose to celebrate the life of a loved one by making a donation in their memory to St Clare’s. Often these donations are collected at the funeral service instead of sending flowers. To make collecting in lieu of flowers as easy as possible we have free donation boxes which you can use to collect any donations made. Once returned to the Hospice we record the donation and send a thank you letter to acknowledge this special gift.

Events In Memory

Holding an event in memory is a personal way of remembering a loved one. There are lots of different events you could organise, whether it’s a bike ride, sponsored walk or a fundraising party.

If you are taking part in or planning an event, our Fundraising Team is able to provide help and guidance. You can also create a special In Memory page on Virgin Money Giving, where you can tell the story of the person you’re remembering and explain why you’re raising money in their memory.

You can add details of sponsored events you are taking part in and your friends and family can donate through your page easily to help support your fundraising. It’s easy to set up a page, and donations come straight to St. Clare’s.

To set up your page online visit Virgin Money Giving

Memory Tree

As a special way for you to celebrate the life of your loved one (whether they have a connection to St Clare’s Hospice or not) you can dedicate a leaf on our Memory Tree. With just 200 leaves, our beautiful Memory Tree is proudly displayed in the reception area at the Hospice for all to see. You are welcome to visit the Hospice to view your leaf at any time.

Light up a Life

We hold an annual Light up a Life service in December, where families or friends can dedicate a light on our tree to a loved one and come together to remember those they have lost.
